Bible Question:
I have always wondered about the covenant marriage and if there is ever a time that you can divorce especially if one in the marriage commits adultery? What God brings together let no man separate. Matthew 5:31"It has been said, 'Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.'[a] 32But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery." |
Bible Answer: Hello Aliennow, Yes, there is a time when divorce is permitted, Matt 19:8 He *said to them, "Because of your hardness of heart Moses permitted you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it has not been this way. Or this was not the intention from the beginning. It really is a confusing translation of scripture, as it seems redundant to say, "if you divorce your wife you must give her a certificate of divorce". The certificate is one of the components of the divorce, and without the certificate you could not possibly be divorced. wordoer |
