Bible Question:
Hebrews uses the words "Fall Away" in chapter 6. Paul also used the words fall away. My question is how do we determine if a person is really saved and backsliden or just a person who was not genuinely saved? justme |
Bible Answer: justme, Hello again brother. This is on oft discussed and at the same time a much misunderstood subject as many others believe and profess that one does not lose thier salvation.Jesus stated clearly in the Gospels that those who belonged to him could not be taken from Him.In response to your question, yes there are those who are not genuinely saved.I was one of those for allot of years.Anyone can hang a label on themselves. But at some point in time all will come to that bottom line,They will know for certain whether or not they are saved. If one looks at the bible with an open heart and open eyes there is no grey area in regards to salvation. Now when we say fall or fall away we come to a much different inference. When we refer fall or fall away it's not about loosing as much as foresaking what one has and this is something that Hebrews 6 touches on. It's quite impossible to lose somthing you never had to start with. This may not be what allot of folks wanna hear but I would rather err on the side of safety than on the side of assumption. Paul makes a very powerful statement in 2 Corinthians 12:5 When he tells us to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith,we are exhorted to examine ourselves. This is a huge wakeup call for all. Where do we stand in relation to The Word of God? If one aproaches this question with a 2 Timothy 2:15 heart there can be no doubt for anyone. In Him, lionheart |
