Bible Question: I have been saved for almost 3 years. I consider it to be a blessing to be one of the "chosen ones"! But for the first time on my spiritual journey,I am realizing just how hard it is to be a Christian. Wanting to be obediant, and not give in to temptation! The conviction. What do you do as "saints" when you fall down? |
Bible Answer: Rom 7:15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. Rom 7:22 For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, Rom 7:23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Rom 7:24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death ? Rom 7:25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord ! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. I love these verses written by the apostle Paul whom I consider the saint's saint or the believer's believer. (I look forward to meeting Paul in heaven and just hugging and thanking him.) We are involved in a battle within our members and the prize is our soul (which has already been won by the grace of God the Father and the sacrifice of His precious Son.) Through faith in Jesus Christ we have been given the Holy Spirit to dwell within our spirits and bring life to our spirit that was dormant and ineffective without Him. Now with the life of the Holy Spirit within our spirit, we (our souls) are no longer slaves to the rule of the flesh, which is subject to Satan and will die and return to dust. Our love for Jesus Christ motivates us to obey Him more and more as we remain in His word and the Holy Spirit within us reveals the sin and uncleanlyness within our souls (which is the essents of who we are). This is an ongoing process of sanctifacation. For most of us it doesn't happen overnight. I have found that things that were a temptation at the beginning are no longer a temptation and that gives me faith to know that things that are a temptation can and will be overcome through the power of the Holy Spirit that faith in Jesus has given me. The more that I feel cleansed the more I realize I have to be cleansed. They say that the Bible will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from the Bible. I've found that this is a very true statement. Make a commitment to keep up with your reading of the Bible. It is the sword of the Holy Spirit for the saints. It is "living and powerful" and will convict your heart and stur your love to obey your savior who has brought your soul from distruction. If you fall down, get up. Remember you are not lost. You have a direction that you are going. Keep your eye focused on Jesus. In Christ, SignmanBob |
