Bible Question: Can someone direct me where it says or indicates in the bible about "come as you are". I'm having a discussion with the youth in my church to which they bring this quote up every time I make mention to them about the clothes they wear to church. Thanks in advance. |
Bible Answer: Ask your youth to give YOU the Biblical reference for this so-called "verse." According to my excellent PC Study Bible computer program there is no such verse. Jesus says in Matt.11:28 "Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." But the context has nothing to do with apparel. God told Moses in Ex. 20:26 "Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon." It appears He was concerned about even ankles being exposed. The Bible has much to say about how God's children are to dress, especially the women (Tim. 2:9). This may be a good Bible study subject for your youth group. |
