Bible Question: What's up with satan's power? How much does he have...spiritual battle and all?!? can he enter a Christian, possesion, that is?!? Can he know what you are thinking, get into your heart, etc... I know that he is a fallen angel, but I don't know where in scripture, if at all his powers are identified. Can someone hook me up with some scriptural advice?!?! tanks, y'all. peace |
Bible Answer: Satan and his power, interesting question, and even though the bible is very limited on information regarding the subject, scripture in no way leaves us empty handed. Jesus rebuked Satan directly, and his disciples rebuked him through the name of Jesus, just as the arch-angel Micheal did when battling Satan over the body of Moses, he said, "The Lord rebuke you." So I think we can follow suit, we are given power over Satan and his angels in the name of Christ Jesus through the blood of Christ Jesus. For more info on the subject check out "Satans devices" a book by Dr Robert Morey- to order call 1-800-41-TRUTH. If you want my opinion on the rest, no I dont believe christians are subject to possesion you can only have one master, how could both the Lord and a demon share space in the same body? But their is another type of possesion that I believe christians are prone to; where one is plagued by demons from outside the body, placing thoughts in your head perhaps, trying to some how alter your mood, and even effecting our circumstances, just look at what happened to Job, but remember that Satan could do nothing to Job with out the permission of God. And remember the attitude of Job through his trails, no matter what happens praise God, don't look at life through the lens of mortality but through the lens of eternity, our treasure is in heaven. There is alot to be learned about Satan in the book of Job. I'm sure we have all at one time or another felt under attack spiritually. When you do feel under attack, rebuke not only satan but the thoughts that have crept in your head, we don't know if the source of those thougts is satan or just our flesh, rebuke them both, and then worship and praise God. I'm sure nothing lifts our spirits like worship even when we don't feel like it, esspecially when we don't feel like it. As for our thoughts, can satan read them? Well I'm not sure and I don't believe scripture gives us the answer, at least not straight forward anyway. But in my opinion I'm almost sure he can put thoughts in. They are a spiritually enemy and we don't fully understand the nature of spirit, are our thoughts spiritual in nature? If they are then wouldn't a spiritual being be able to pick up on them? Just some food for thought, and remember that most of this is just my opinion, and I have told you when and where, but I am open to correction. Your brother in Christ -john 146 |
