Bible Question: In 2:18, "Hindered" or "Stopped," whichever translation you like, the questions remain: how much power does Satan have? If we know that God works for the good in all things, then this verse points out that Satan has the ability to disrupt that. Does this render God less powerful? |
Bible Answer: God is Soveriegn. Satan can only do what God allows him to do. He is the accuser of the saints (you and me) but thank Jesus for His blood that negates any accusation. Satan can't be all places at once, God is. Satan can't read our minds (although he sure can read body language), God knows every thought we have before we think it. Satan can't make us do anything. He can tempt us, but with the Holy Spirit sealing us and Jesus blood covering us he can never take away our sonship. The evil one can use a bad situation to try to break us, but God will use the brokenness to reveal His strength and glory and show Himself supreme. It may look like Satan has the upper hand at times, but we have to look at the long picture. We have authority over him, and we already have the victory through Christ. If he can fool enough people that he is in control, he thrives on it. He is a liar and the father of lies. |
