Bible Question: What is the different between apostle and disciple ? |
Bible Answer: Luke 14:26-27 - "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple." This is the foundation of discipleship. Further in verse 33 - "So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple." An apostle is also a disciple. God raises up a faithful disciples like Paul to become an apostle. Someone who can say "flow me as I follow Christ". Such a person can make others also disciples of Jesus. He can not only bring them to repentence from their sins, but also help them grow into a life of fruitfulness. Eph 4:11 - "And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers" God himself does this! In that he anoints people and helps them do the works that He has prepared for them to do. Thereby bringing glory to God. In short an apostle is a disciple who has received a special ministry from God! (Not because he's special, but its God's will!) It has nothing to do with having a post or position as the most people think. The fruit of their work, over their lifetime will testify to others that they have been apostles during their life |
