Bible Question: What is the different between apostle and disciple ? |
Bible Answer: The word apostle means "one sent forth" they differ from disciple in that they are called by God to go out into the world to preach Christ's message see Luke 6:13, they also must be ordained as christ ordained the original 12 apostles John 15:16. They are to be Christ's special witness, and ordained meaning that this in the NT times was an office held in the church. Today all can be followers of Christ which is the definition of disciple and spread his word, but the ordination is a significant part. Also only those who hold the office of apostle can ordain other apostles such as was the case when Judas was replaced by Matthias Acts 1:15-26 |
