Bible Question: When was Acts written? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Peter Colback, According to the Introduction to Acts in Zondervan's NASB Study Bible, the book was written either A.D. 63, soon after the last event recorded in the book, or around A.D. 70 or even later. The book of Acts is "silent" about certain events, including the burning of Rome and the persecution of the Christians there (A.D. 64), the martyrdom of Peter and Paul (possibly 67) and the destruction of Jerusalem (A.D. 70). So that is the reasoning behind placing the writing of the book of Acts around A.D. 63, before those events occurred. It is interesting that Luke does not include the outcome of Paul's trial (28:30) before the book ends. Blessings to you, Makarios |
