Subject: would like to study 4:23-24. |
Bible Note: Hi Searcher, Please feel free to disagree with whatever I said, in fact I would welcome your thoughts and additions to what I would say. However, with the Scriptures here in front of us, I do not think that we have to disagree. I think that the word (latreia) which is translated worship in some versions of Romans 12:1 is the key to our misunderstanding. The King James and the New King James do not have the word "worship" in their versions because the word (proskuneo) is not in the Greek. We translate the words (latreuo or latreia) "service" because that is what it means. Whether the word worship is with it or not, it means service. Both of the Interlinear Greek copies that I have available have reasonable or spiritual "service" in their translations. So to avoid confusion, I would say that the NASB should consider dropping their (of worship) which was added to the Greek. The situation might point out that all of us, totally, continually, whether in worship or in daily living should present ourselves to God for service. Not only on our worship day.
