Bible Question:
Was wondering if anyone wanted to study the text of John 4:23-24 with me. Also our pastor has been teaching us about a 2nd work of grace which is sanctification and implies that we can lose our salvation. Would like your input. Thanks! |
Bible Answer: chapter 4 Jesus was talking to the Samaritian woman at the well. v.19 "Sir", the woman said, "I can see that you are a prophet. v.20 Our fathers worshipped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem. v.21 Jesus declared, "believe me woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem v.22 you Samaritians worship what you do not know;we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. v.23 yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. v.24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth. God is not limited to one location, nor does he identify with only one nation. the whole universe is his, and he is present everywhere. genuine worship involves both fact and faith. truth means we are to worship the right God the God revealed in the Bible through Jesus Christ. spirit means that true worship demands more than just outward motions. it is an inner submission of oneself to God.(Romans 12:1) Sanctification in greek( hagiasmos) as used in the Scriptures means to make holy, to consecrate, to separate from the world, and be set apart from sin in order that we may have close fellowship with God and serve Him. pray this will help you God bless. |
