Bible Question: What is the message on Luke chapter 12:13-21? |
Bible Answer: Greetings and welcome to the forum! Jesus is pointing to a higher issue here than the family inheritance mentioned in verse 1. He is stressing the importance of a corrct attitude toward the accumulation of wealth. Life is more than material goods, far more important is our relationship with God. The good life has nothing to do with being wealthy - so we are to beware of covetness (greed for what we don't have). We need to learn to tune out all the earthly enticements and instead concentrate on living in a good relationship with God. The man in the parable died before he could use in his barns. Wealth and planning for retirement is good but it only lasts a short time. We must be more concerned about what we have to take with us into eternal life. Jesus challenges us to think beyond earthly goals and to use what we have been given for God's kingdom. Faith, service, and obedience are the way to get rich with God. Hope this helps. prayon |
