Bible Question: Right now iam looking at the story of Zechariah and the promise that he recieved from the angel Gabriel. Luke 1:11-20. This promise is similar to the promise that was given to Abraham concerning his son Isaac. My question is being that Zechariah was a priest and for sure he was familiar with the story of abraham, Why was it so hard for him to believe the promise for himself. An what makes the difference in faith between the 2 men? What are the enemies of our faith to beleive God for His promises? |
Bible Answer: Hello Chuckie, Welcome. I don't know if we can say for sure, why Abraham, was given more faith then Zechariah, it's hard to see, if scripture really says so, and we don't know that much about him from his story in Luke 1:11-20. But only that God used him and his wife, Elizabeth, as a sign, if you please, that they would bring into the world a great prophet, v 16 "And he will turn many of the sons of Israel back to the Lord their God. In spite of his lack of faith, God still, in his sovereignty, used him. The enemies of our faith are, satin, his minions, and our own doubtful heart's. Hope this helps God bless John |
