Subject: Money changers in Temple |
Bible Note: I agree with your answer for the most part but I believe Jesus threw them out not only because they cheated but because the were conducting business in a site sanctified for the worship of God. Mark 11:15-16 (NASB) 15 Then they *came to Jerusalem. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves; 16 and He would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple. It is for this reason I strongly object to visiting Christian performers from selling anything in the church. The world looks at the church as money grubbing and buying and selling in the church tends to confirm that incorrect opinion. 1 Peter 2:12 (NASB) 12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation. |
