Bible Question:
I am looking for a passage of scripture that speaks about removing a demon or something bad from your mind and if you don't replace it with something good seven other demons will come and occupy the vacancy. Any ideas, Brent |
Bible Answer: Brent: Matthew 12:43 to 45.I believe is the passage you have in mind. This is also recorded in Luke 11:24 to 26. I suggest that you go back to Luke 11:17 and read to verse 28 to get the picture in better context. Jewish exorcists claimed to cast out demons, but they rejected Jesus Christ. Their exorcisims were ineffective. Thus leaving the person in a much worse state. This is a summary of notes in the NASB Study Bible, by Zondervan. My understanding is a Christian can not be posessed by a demon as Christ resides in you with the everlasting seal of the Holy Spirit. However, a Christian can be infulenced by demons. A Christian in a carnal state, or some say blackslidden state, and can do just about any sin one can imagine. We only have to look at King David. Lust, adultry, lies, murder, that's some pretty serious sins. If someone has bad in you mind, that is where sin is formed. But it is not sin until a person makes a choice to act on it. Jesus said lusting was a sin. To continue to think and long for something is sinful. I think it would be hard to find a man or woman who has not had the thought of lust sometime. May I refer you to 1 John 1:9 we are to confess our sins! Not to ask forgiveness, but to confess our sins. Jesus forgives our sin when we confess, what He already knows! What a loving Father that just wants us to be honest about our sins, and to call a sin, a sin. With the Blood of Christ we are bathed in forgiveness. I can hardly believe I am loved this much. And friend you are too! I sugggest spending time listening to Christian radio, reading the Bible daily, and pray for others and yourself constantly. You can do anything and still pray. I believe this will help with bad thoughts. I hope this has helped a little. agape, justme |
