Bible Question:
I noticed that there are nine places in the prayer of Solomon where it says "hear Thou". That is to say, if you also include 2 Chron 6:39 in that listing. I wonder if anyone familiar with Hebrew can tell me why this verse omits "Thou" when verse 21, 23, 25, etc. include it. I would point out also however, that I am using the old 1977 copyright of the NASB. One can use the King James in looking at verse 39. From the heart, Ray |
Bible Answer: Greetings Ray, I do not believe that anyone short of the NASB translators themselves could adequately answer this question. Perhaps you could send an email to the Lockman Foundation regarding how the old 1977 NASB translates 2 Chronicles 6:39. However, in the NASB's defense, the NKJV does not include "thou", even though the KJV and the 1977 NASB's predecessor, 1901 American Standard Version, does. "then hear thou from heaven, even from thy dwelling-place, their prayer and their supplicatons, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people who have sinned against thee." [2 Chronicles 6:39, ASV] Blessings to you, Makarios |
