Bible Question:
In comparing this verse with the similar prayer in 1 Kings 8:31, I see that sinning is a fact of life. Sin leads to death and as you say, "repentance is a way of life", or could we also say that repentance is a way to life. There is no doubt that if we sin against Him we will feel the results of that sin. 1 Kings 8:33, "When Thy people Israel are defeated [Lit. smitten] before an enemy, because they have sinned against Thee..." 1) I wonder what the difference is in the Hebrew between "if" and "when". 1 Kings 8:31, NKJ, "When anyone sins against his neighbor,..." 2 Chron 6:22, NKJ, "If anyone sins against his neighbor,..." Bible Answer: Word study ... 'aher (when) - 'im (if) .......... In 1 Kings 8:31 the word is 'aher which is a primitive relative pronoun (of every gender and number) and is translated in the NAS which 1925 times of the 3351 ... and can be a conditional if. In 2 Chron 6:22 the word is 'im which is a primitive particle and is translated in the NAS if 588 times of the 899 ... and tends to be more conditional.
