Bible Question:
I have been told that the priestly line has been verified in our day thru DNA testing. Was there ever a Kingly or other type of residence during the first or second temple periods situated in close proximity to the temple? |
Bible Answer: Hi, John... I would assume that to verify through DNA a descendent of someone would require that person's DNA or, at least, the DNA of someone actually in that lineage. In other words, one would need a known starting point. Perhaps this would be possible if Aaron's remains could be located with certainty. The lineage of the Lord Jesus Christ was verifiable up through His lifetime -- which was why His ancestry was not disputed in the first century. The Aaronic priesthood was a shadow of the far superior priesthood of our Lord (Hebrews 7) -- like a toothpick compares to a mighty redwood, but even that analogy is not sufficient. Given that the shadow has been replaced with the far better reality, I am always puzzled by what drives this kind of curiosity. I am a Christian Jew. I have not the slightest interest in seeing, for example, the Wailing Wall. Who cares about temples made with human hands when one has been made part of the Ephesians 2 Temple? As to proximity of palaces to either of the Temples, there are maps online of ancient Jerusalem during those periods. Google searches will locate those maps for you. In Him, Doc |
