Bible Question:
I was praying about a raise (I work for my father in law) and (maybe)God gave me the following verse. But I have no clue what it means so I cannot tell if God was trying to say something or if it was just random non-sense. Any Help would be appreciated. This is the Verse: Ecc. 6:2 2a man to whom God has (A)given riches and wealth and honor so that his soul (B)lacks nothing of all that he desires; yet God has not empowered him to eat from them, for a foreigner enjoys them. This is vanity and a severe affliction. (if it is lagit it doesnt sound good, hehe) :P |
Bible Answer: To understand this verse better take in context of the previous chapter. A man comes into this worls with nothing and he leaves with nothing. He can toil gain all this prosperity and continue to strive for it yet not enjoy why he did it. We gain to take care of our needs and our family, We don't gain to gain more. At the end of my life I doubt I will say I wish I could have spent more hours at the office. If you seek scripture that speaks to your need for promotion or raise try Jeremiah 29...verse 11 in various translations basicaly says "I know the plans I have for you, plans for good (prosperity) and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Psalm 75 ....promotion comes from the Lord. 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. Note the order soul before pocket.
