Bible Answer: Dear ARB, Welcome to the forum! Well, here is a mouthful: This is what we call an anthropomorphic metaphor. This is a literary technique by which an analogy is made between something human like and another object in order to express the character or nature of that object. In this particular case, Solomon is using a woman as a metaphor in order to explain the character and nature of wisdom. There are other metaphors used of wisdom in the Scriptures.
