NASB | 2 Kings 18:27 But Rabshakeh said to them, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to speak these words, and not to the men who sit on the wall, doomed to eat their own dung and drink their own urine with you?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Kings 18:27 But the Rabshakeh said to them, "Has my master sent me only to your master and to you to say these things? Has he not sent me to the men who sit on the wall, [who are doomed by the siege] to eat their own excrement and drink their own urine along with you?" |
Bible Question: Why is this practice of eating their own dung and drinking urine mentioned in God's word? |
Bible Answer: Hello dmnannet, There are some possible answers: 1. Demonstrates veracity of Scripture. 2. Gives important historical detail about siege warfare. 3. Tells us the human author was a really sick individual. The last one is facetious, and none of these are really acceptable. The best answer is that God wanted in there. That's the best I can give.
