Bible Question: Some persons speak of family worship as "a family altar" in their home. What does it mean? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Hana... Altars are places of worship. The altar of the Lord was where Israel would worship. For comparison see Acts 17:23, an example of a pagan altar. Therefore, when the family gathers together for worship, it was said that they gathered at the family altar. It is a turn of phrase not meant to be taken as a literal altar. In Him, Doc |
