Subject: Why should we obey God? |
Bible Note: Good morning Whatever... When I read your post, 1 Cor 3:12-15 came to my mind. While this passage does not explicitly speak of a 'degree of obedience', I do believe that the degree to which you do the good works that Abba Father planned for you to do (Eph 2:10), will directly correspond with the reward you receive (1 Cor 2:14-15). But if anyone builds upon the Foundation, whether it be with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, the work of each (one) will become (plainly, openly) known (shown for what it is); for the day (of Christ) will disclose and declare it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test and critically appraise the character and worth of the work each person has done. If the work which any person has built on this Foundation (any product of his efforts whatever) survives (this test), he will get his reward. But if any person's work is burned up (under the test), he will suffer the loss (of it all, losing his reward), though he himself will be saved, but only as (one who has passed) through fire. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 Amp For we are God's own handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, (born anew) that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us (taking paths which He prepared ahead of time), that we should walk in them (living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live). Ephesians 2:10 Amp Now… :) If you are asking if a person has to have a certain level/degree of obedience to get to heaven, I think if John 3:16 and John 6:28-29. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God: that you believe on him whom he has sent.
