Bible Question: Explain the meaning of Psalm 23 |
Bible Answer: Psalm 23 is a song of worship written by David using the analogy of shepherd and sheep for our relationship with God. Verses 1-3 are from a sheep's point of view bragging on their shepherd. Verse 4-6 is the sheep talking to his shepherd. In verses 1-3 we can see the sheep know and appreciate what their shepherd does for them. If we apply that to God, we know God the Great Shepherd cares for and protects us. In Verses 4-6 the sheep talk of their comfort found in their shepherd. This is same comfort we find in God through His Son Christ Jesus. While this passage is often read a funerals it is not last rites nor is something exclusively for the dead. It is encouragement for the living and hope of the tommorrow. EdB |
