AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Kings 3:3 ¶ Now Solomon loved the LORD, walking [at first] in the statutes of David his father, except [for the fact that] he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places [ignoring the law that required all sacrifices to be offered at the tabernacle]. [Lev 17:3, 4] |
Bible Question:
Can a Christian also participate in the practices of other religions? It looks that this practice was overlooked by God himself which honored Solomon even despite that practice 1 Kings 3:5 5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, "Ask what you wish me to give you." Thank you, Finder |
Bible Answer: 1 Kings 3 1And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh's daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about. 2Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days. 3And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places. I AM NOT SURE THAT SOLOMON SINNED AT ALL. HE OFFERED SACRIFICES ON THE HIGH PLACES BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HOUSE BUILT UNTO THE NAME OF THE LORD IN THOSE DAYS. IT MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THE PREFERENCE OF THE LORD TO BE WORSHIPPED IN THE "HIGH PLACES", BUT SOLOMON WAS TO BUILD A TEMPLE, IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN. THE BIBLE SAYS IN EXODUS CHAPTER 20, YOU SHALL HAVE NO OTHER GODS BEFORE ME. ALSO, YOU CANNOT SERVE GOD AND MAMMON.YOU CANNOT SERVE JEHOVAH, AND PRACTISE ANOTHER RELIGION, ALTHOUGH SOLOMON DID INDEED STRAY FROM THE LORD LATER IN HIS LIFE. |
