AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Kings 2:3 Keep the charge of the LORD your God, [that is, fulfill your obligation to] walk in His ways, keep His statutes, His commandments, His precepts, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may succeed in everything that you do and wherever you turn, |
Bible Question:
This question is begging to be asked Should we be humble in OUR personal interpetations of the Scripture? (and OUR perceived dose of the Holy Sprit's guidance) Since we are still human... Isn't it a FACT that we ALL interpet some portions of the scriptures right and some wrong? Don't all denominationa and persons miss the mark in their interpetations.... some are wrong in some beliefs and right in others... and vice versa Doesn't God and (and logic!) tell us we should be humble? |
Bible Answer: Billk, good wishes to you!... When King David was near the end of his days, he charged his son Solomon, who succeeded him as king, to keep the charge of the Lord his God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what was written in the Law of Moses [1 Kings 2:3] .... In the New Covenant, the apostle Paul charged young Timothy to preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. Then Paul issued the stern warning that the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. [2 Tim.2:2-4] In some of the posts you read on this forum, in a number of media religious broadcasts, and from a number of pulpits and Bible classes across the land what you are experiencing, I surely do believe, is a fulfillment of the apostle's prophecy. Whether this falling away from the truth is fueled by lack of humility or an overdose of humanism or something else, it is difficult to deny that egregious problems exist within the church the body of Christ. This forum is but a microcosm of the macrocosm of division and splintering that is present in the church at large. It is a body divided against itself, each faction saying, I'm right and you're wrong -- or, if they won't go that far, they are most of them willing [and even proud] to say that My church is better [or more right, or more something] than your church. Dear believer, I doubt that your peace of mind would be any more enhanced by visiting another web site, another forum. I am myself not much of a web surfer, but a number of my friends who have visited other forums tell me that the situation there is as bad as, and in most cases worse than, it is on this forum. I beg you not use this forum or any other as your main entree for your spiritual nourishment. The Bible is your only true source for spiritual nourishment. If you don't have a home church that sticks closely by the word of God, by all means find one. Join in fellowship with regenerate believers who hold a high view of Scripture. Consult a trusted pastor for spiritual guidance. And, above all, pray without ceasing. May the Lord bless you and keep you under the shelter of His wing! --Hank |
