Bible Question: The Isrealites in the OT days were required to give animal sacrifices to the Lord. When Jesus Christ was crucified He became the perfect sacrifice and put an end to the need to sacrifice the animals. However, the Jewish religion believes that Jesus was not the Son of God, that He was just a prophet. Since they, therefore, are still under the OT laws why do they not offer sacrifices for their sins today? |
Bible Answer: I have asked an orthodox Jew this question. Her answer, I believe she got it from her Rabbi, was that the sacrifice was now good works. When I asked what prompted the move from the requirement of a blood sacrifice to good works, she said modernization. I did not press the issue by asking how men could "modernize" God's laws, because I had just pressed her on why Genesis 1 uses a plural name for God, Elohim is plural, and why it says "Let Us make Man in Our own image" (Her answer to that, again from her Rabbi, was that it "was a king's we" whatever that means...) I emphasize that I am no expert on Judaism, and any Rabbi will certainly feel free to correct or confirm. |
