Bible Question: Is it true that Israelites journey to Canaan should have only taken 11 days? |
Bible Answer: Hello Tracey: Welcome to the forum. Well, Tracey, by my calculations, which are only an informally educated guess. The trip was approximately 425 miles, I think, (I may be off by a mile or two) :-) and divide that by 11 days, and you would have to move, (most scholars believe) a crowd the size of a large city of about 2.5 million men women and children, over 38.6 miles a day. Personally, I think that would be, logistically, and by all practical means, pretty tough to do. But it sure could have taken a pretty small fraction of forty years! Even at a mile a day it would have taken only about 425 days, or one year and a little over two month's. By the way, Tracey, not to discourage you at all, that was a good question, and you are very welcome here, we would love to have stay and study God's word with us. But that was kinda off a bit as far as Bible study per-say, because it called for a degree of speculation and opinion on my part, and this is a 'sola scriptura' (that means scripture only) Bible study forum, and the Bible doesn't address the subject of your question. I hope no-one minds. Anyway, I hope that helped you, Tracey. Shalom and God bless John |
