Bible Question:
Hi all, I'm Daniel and I'm a 14 year old Christian. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; I'm into playing computer games and I like 3D graphic design. does this commandment include such things as computer games? which some include of course 3d enviouments which usally resemble the real world (World of Warcraft, for example, I don't play WoW, just using it as an example as I imigine it's well known.) Incase you are wondering. the commandment is Exodus 20:4-5 the translation is King James according crosswalk.com Thanks for the help in advance! God bless, Daniel. |
Bible Answer: Greetings, This commandment is referring to worshipping and praying to the images as if they were gods. Enjoying a computer game isn't the same. Now, if you worshipped World of Warcraft, and such, then yes it would be wrong. However, simply enjoying the game and playing it, is quite alright. I also enjoy playing WoW as well as Star Wars Galaxies and several other games. Its an enjoyable pass time. As long as it remains such, and doesn't become more important to you than God, then there shouldn't be any concerns. Jesusman |
