Bible Question (short): Numbering System Used in the Bible |
Question (full): Thank you for this opportunity to submit my question. In the Bible, various numbers are used in both the Old Testament and the New. The basic assumption is that the numbers are decimal...that is...Base-10. As I understand, the numbering system that we use now were developed "after" the resurrection. As such, it seems that the Old Testament numbers must have been converted from older numbering systems. I would appreciate it if you could perhaps answer this question or direct me to other links. Examples are numbers such as 666, 40, 7, etc. As an IT-Math teacher, this information will certainly help my students. Thank you, and I wish you a wonderful year ahead. TL |
