Bible Question: In the Bible, especially through out Genesis, there are lots of people that lived for hundreds upon hundreds of years. Was time kept then the same way that we keep time now? |
Bible Answer: Hello winfieldd There is no reason to believe that timekeeping has changed. The long lifespans in the early part of Genesis is attributable to two main factors. 1. Mankind was created to live, not die. God designed Adam perfectly. Those perfections took time to decay. 2. Noah's flood brought enormous environmental changes. Carefully compare Gen 1-2 with Gen 8-9. I have seen a chart of the Biblical lifespans given in Genesis. The flood begins a rapid decline in longevity. Steve |
