Bible Question: Why was the census taken by King David in 2 Samuel 24 considered such a serious sin to bring upon Israel a plague of death, killing 70,000? |
Bible Answer: Dear daveriff2, I will try to answer as best as I can. David tends to rely on his force instead of God (see verse 3). He has always been relying on God to fight for him in the past no matter how many army he has got. But he is alert and quick to repent. (see verse 10) Also see how does David reply in verse 14 regarding the options of punishment given by God. I think David is a good example for us that even we sin with our folly, we have to be alert with what we have done and be quick to repent. Hope the above is helpful. Shalom Azure |
