AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Samuel 22:11 "He rode on a cherub and flew; He appeared upon the wings of the wind. |
Bible Question: Why is God pictured here as riding on a cherub (an angel)? I can't think of anywhere else in the Scripture where this kind of language (description) is used. What is the significance of this (if any)? |
Bible Answer: RWC, He was between two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony (Exo 25:22) sat enthroned above the cherubim (1Sa 4:4; 2Sa 6:2; Ps 88:1, 99:1). I think it is David's description of God rideing on a cherub and flying ... also in Psalm 18:10). God travels his chariot in the clouds (Psa 104:3). Psalm 139 says God is omnipresent, so I think it is interesting to describe His movements. Searcher |
