NASB | 2 Samuel 12:15 So Nathan went to his house. ¶ Then the LORD struck the child that Uriah's widow bore to David, so that he was very sick. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Samuel 12:15 Then Nathan went [back] to his home. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's widow bore to David, and he was very sick. |
Bible Question: I thought God was LOVE. How do you explain that God strikes and later kills the child that was born to David and Batsheba? This seems very cruel to me! Anyone have an exlanation for this? |
Bible Answer: Romans 9:15 "...I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion"...this whole chapter is helpful in answering your question but basically, this verse is letting us know that God decides! It doesn't seem very loving if you consider death an end...God just brought that baby back Home and consider that God allowed that baby to be born just for the purpose of taking him back! |
