Bible Question:
is the death sentence justified? i want know pro or con according to the BIBLE pomerian |
Bible Answer: Matthew 5:38-40 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I [Jesus] tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well." God wants us to be completely abandoned to Him. We are called to give up all of our rights, and put all of our hope, trust, and faith in Him. Jesus teaches us not to take revenge, but to continue to suffer patiently at the hands of evil people. Achieving that type of devotion to God, is a very personal thing. So, all I can say in answer to your question is that even if an evil person hurt me or my family very badly, I would strive against my natural desire for him to be killed. I realize that my answer is not directly on point. You are really asking whether other people in our society are doing the wrong thing by killing people for their crimes. That is none of my business. I do more than enough "wrong things" to keep me busy. When I am perfect, I will turn my attention to what other people are doing. |
