NASB | Genesis 9:23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it upon both their shoulders and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 9:23 So Shem and Japheth took a robe and put it on both their shoulders, and walked backwards and covered the nakedness of their father; their faces were turned away so that they did not see their father's nakedness. |
Bible Question: oh sorry, I didn't ask the question clearly (it is my second language), yes. I mean why Noah curse Ham and Canaan, for instructing, Shem and Japeth for covering his nakeness. I know the one who instruct someone to do wrong is worse than the one who did it. But why is that wrong? |
Bible Answer: Gen 9:22 does not say that Ham told his brothers to cover him. Instead, after Ham did whatever he did to his father, he went to his brothers and told them about it. Apparently he did this in a wanton and scoffing manner (as John Gill puts it). Somehow, Canaan was also involved. Does that help you to understand? |
