NASB	Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.
AMPLIFIED 2015	Genesis 6:4 There were Nephilim (men of stature, notorious men) on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they gave birth to their children. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown (great reputation, fame). [Num 13:33]

Bible Question: Purely for debate purposes, assuming 'sons of God' were angels and since this happened only 120 years before the flood so Noah's family were probably personally aware or acquainted with the offspring, could this have been the 'kernel of truth' which the Greek, Roman and Norse myths of gods were built upon?

Bible Answer: Very good question! This quite possibly could be the 'reasoning' behind the beginnings of Greek and Roman mythology, being that the 'sons of God' co-habitated with the daughters of men and created offspring. In Greek mythology, Zeus was noted for this type of behavior and Achilles was born. (Sorry, I'm not 'up to snuff' on Greek mythology- been a long time since I read the Illiad and the Odyssey :) ). But this type of thought could be a logical way to explain some aspects of the birth of pagan mythology. There are no doubt other situations in the Bible that are twisted in this way also.I have always interpreted Genesis 6:4 in this way: that the 'sons' of God were the descendants in the line of Seth as opposed to being angels. But I could be mistaken. The "Nephilim" could be referring to Dinosaurs here, but that meaning is not clear.
