Bible Question:
My question relates to the creation of mankind. We know that God created Adam and Eve. Did God create others as he did Adam and Eve? Since Eve gave birth to three sons, at least two of these sons took on wives and Cain feared being killed by others when he was sent to The Land of Nod. So where did the wives and others come from? |
Bible Answer: Freebyrd, (from the Lynard Skynard song?) Welcome. As Johnny said in his post to you: Their wives were their sisters. Some people think this was not so, because of this verse forbidding incest: Leviticus 18:9 "The nakedness of thy sister, the daughter of thy father, or daughter of thy mother, whether she be born at home or born abroad, even their nakedness thou shalt not uncover." But this commandment was given much later (after the flood). In Adam and Eve's day the bloodline of the human race was much more pure and marrying one's sister did not produce offspring with the kinds of defects that would cause today. God allowed this back then so that mankind could obey His command to "be fruitful and multiply." |
