Bible Question: in the bible god said to moses "i will utterly blot out amalek from existence" what does he mean by this, and who was amalek? |
Bible Answer: A decendant of Esau. According to Deut 25:18 they had attacked Israel from the rear, making a cowardly assault upon the "faint and weary" stragglers. This explains the severe judgment of Ex 17:14-17. (from The Wycliffe Bible Commentary You may want to read I Sam. 15. God told King Saul to destroy everything of the Amalekites because of what they did to Israel. See the consequences to King Saul due to his "partial" obedience and God's thoughts on the subject.
