AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:22 ¶ And the LORD God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), knowing [how to distinguish between] good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take from the tree of life as well, and eat [its fruit], and live [in this fallen, sinful condition] forever"-- |
Subject: Is God capable of sarcasm, are people 1? |
Bible Note: Thank you lionheart. You say there is nothing sarcastic here, in Gen 11:6, that is, OK I can see the LORD saying, Behold, the people are one, well, maybe superficially. and they have all one language, which was true, for a time. The Lord continues, "and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do." Maybe sarcasm was a bad choice of words, Ridicule seems to be more fitting. This is the part that I am trying to understand, without going down too many rabbit trails in other Books, do you think that these words can be applied to the church today, as God's people being one? And do you think that God was serious about calling these people as being one in that cultural-historical context? Thank you, son |
