NASB | Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the LORD God had made. And the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, "Can it really be that God has said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" [Rev 12:9-11] |
Subject: Was the serpent satan or just a serpent? |
Bible Note: Let me ask you this. Obviously God created the serpent to be able to speak with humans. Eve doesn't seem to question the fact a serpent is speaking to her. And she doesn't seem to question the presence of the serpent in general being in the garden. And if satan possessed the serpent, then why would God punish the serpent for something it couldn't control? As for that, why even punish an animal that many believe has no awareness to anything remotely spiritual? Unless the serpent is as susceptable to satan as humans are? Which makes me question how much intercommunication goes on between God and the animals. Before man's fall, men and animals were both vegetarians, both lived in harmony with each other and neither were suspectible to death. Only after this incident with the serpent are both animal and man condemned to death. If animals were not guilty to some degree in this fall of man, then why condemn them to death? Too many questions. Not enough answers. |
