Bible Question: What are the three philosophies of religion |
Bible Answer: Hi, L Smith! I am not terribly clear on what you might mean here. Religion might be broken down into theology (metaphysics), anthropology (epistemology), and ethics. Although, I kind of think that they all fit under the umbrella of theology. You could break it down like shaunswoods suggested: monotheism, polytheism, and pantheism. But then you'd have animism and atheism left out of the mix. From a scriptural standpoint I think that soteriology is a good way to divide things (and that kind of fits with what shaunswoods was saying too). That is the study of how we are saved. There is scriptural salvation that is an act of God and just about everything else is auto-autosoterism which is people accomplishing (or contributing to) their own salvation. Perhaps you could clarify your question? Sorry if I muddied the waters! In Him, Doc :-) |
