Bible Question: Why was Jacob blessed, and not punished, after decieving his farther. Thanks |
Bible Answer: jr8 At times we as reader of the Bible seem to focus in on small sections and fail to see the big picture God is presenting. The story of Jacob was laid out to show us what kind of person Jacob was and how through interaction with God what he became. Jacob was in a sense punished, he was forced into exile, he was tricked and manipulated by his father in law. And later we see he was living the whole time in mortal fear of his brother. However we also see God reaching out to him and we see him become a man of principal and the leader of the nation of Israel. In essence God took a scoundrel that used trickery and disception, cleaned him up making him a man of honor and made him the leader of God people. EdB |
