NASB | Genesis 2:9 Out of the ground the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 2:9 And [in that garden] the LORD God caused to grow from the ground every tree that is desirable and pleasing to the sight and good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the [experiential] knowledge (recognition) of [the difference between] good and evil. [Rev 2:7; 22:14, 19] |
Bible Question:
Why was there a tree of life to which before they ate of the other tree they had free access to; but after they had none "less they LIVE FOREVER in thier sin" Because if they had not eaten of the other they would never had died. This is not a question of unbelief.Or sceptism. But rather to provoke thought. |
Bible Answer: If you read Gen 2:9, it would appear that these two trees were available to Adam and Eve. With plenty of food, there was no reason to eat of the 'tree of knowledge of good and bad'. But they did - after being tempted by the serpent (Satan) - because they desired something that didn't belong to them. After doing that, they weren't permitted to partake of the tree of life. The tree [all by] itself didn't provide eternal life, only God can do that (Rev 2:7). Hope this helps. |
