Bible Question: Is God a he,she or neither? The Bible clearly says He. But when God created humans and animals He clearly understood the difference between male and female. Can there be a heavenly Father without a heavenly mother? Why specify He, if there isn't a 'she' to clarify the word 'he' against? Can God be a 'he' if He is spirit? Some people say the word for God in the original language of the Bible is neither male nor female. |
Bible Answer: Does it really matter? What does it say in the word? “Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” So… Why would it be any different for God? Mar 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven. In our limited understanding, we must look on Him as one or the other. I would recommend that one should take the bible as truth and not try to add to or subtract from it. For as it says in Rev 22:19; “And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” I would say that one would be wise to heed this warning as to the rest of Gods word as well... I should also think that before answering any such a question as yours, one should seriously consider what is said in Mat 18:6 (GNB); "If anyone should cause one of these little ones to lose his faith in me, it would be better for that person to have a large millstone tied around his neck and be drowned in the deep sea.” I, personally think of God as a “HE,” simply because HIS word depicts such. I believe however in what I stated from the word above, and my comments thereon. “there is neither male nor female…” George |
