Bible Question: My fiancee and I have been engaged for about 2 and a half years now. We can't afford to be married yet as we are still in college and living with our respective parents. We know that God has blessed our relationship and that we are meant to be with one another. My question is: Since we already feel like we are married(we just don't have a piece of paper to prove it), is it acceptable that we are sexually intimate? Does the bible say anything about having relations before having the paper? In sending me any bible verse, please also give me an interpretation of the verse so that I can fully understand. |
Bible Answer: Teachandsing, If God has blessed your relationship, don't mess that up by violating His commandment. Many a relationship has been destroyed by doing what you propose. And those who did it said the same things about their relationship that you are saying. You will regret it if you do the same. You are not married until you are married regardless of how you feel. Feeling married and being married are two different things and require very different leves of committment. Have the courage to be chaste until you are married. That is something you will never have to regret. Emmaus |
