Bible Question:
I have a friend that is having a difficult time making a decision. She and her husband moved here from out of state about a year ago. He loves his job and loves being here. She likes her job some what, but has never been away from her family. They have also have a baby on the way which makes the homesick a little stronger. They put down some money on a house. She told her Mom and her Mom got pretty upset about and I think somewhat made her feel guilty. She is really freaking out and having second thoughts. She does not know wether to believe this is God telling her to go home or Satan bringing her down. I do not think God would use her Mom's sadness and anger towards her not being home to tell her to move back to Arkansas. It goes against all the rules of love in 1 Corinthians. Anyway, I want to find some scripture or something to puit her at ease and help her deal with this situation and listenening to God in her decision. |
Bible Answer: Hello Martink, I understand that there is can often be a delicate balance between honoring your parents and marriage, but after being married the human relationship that must be given priority is to your spouse. I have a friend in a similar situation where the wife has never been away from her family. This has lead to tension with her husband as there remains a question of priorities. It will be inevitable that there will need to be some adjustments made by all, but there is a definite need for married couples to "leave and cleave." Leave their families and cleave together. It is really important to cultivate the new union made between husband and wife which is tied together by God. This is reflected in Genesis 2:24. |
