Bible Question: God created animals prior to creating man. He created male and female of every species. When He created man He only created Adam at first. It's unclear from the bible whether Adam was created a child or an adult and how long he remained alone. Why didn't God automatically create a female human? |
Bible Answer: Dear Chynna, Genesis 1:5 indicates that from God's perspective evening preceeds morning to complete one day in time. This incidently is completely opposite to our natural appreciation of time. Genesis 1:24-31 records the events that took place on the SIXTH DAY in the counting of time. Here God created all land based animals then he created Man, the male first then the female. Both were formed on the sixth day, so we're simply taking a matter of a few hours age difference. Genesis 2:18-23 focuses on the separation of the woman from the man. As you will remember from your Biology classes all the genetic information that defines the female is present in the male (i.e., the X chromosone). If you refocus your question and ask "What is the significance of God making Adam first?" you'd be on a better track. |
