AMPLIFIED 2015 | Genesis 18:2 When he raised his eyes and looked up, behold, three men were standing [a little distance] from him. When he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed down [with his face] to the ground, |
Bible Question: Who were the three men in Genesis 18:2 who appeared to Abraham? Were they angels? Was one of them the Lord (verse 1)? |
Bible Answer: This is an example of a theophany -- one of the three was the God Himself (or possibly the pre-incarnate Christ). Note that in verses 1, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 26, 33 states that it is the LORD (when the word appears in all majuscule, then it refers to God.) |
