Bible Note: Sorry, I am new at this site, couldn't figure out how to follow up, and ended up creating another user. Anyway, I agree with all of your comments, and related verses. What I am trying to get at is why the English translation of this verse (Genesis 17:7) says "their" refering to the Seed after Abraham, when Paul is saying there is no "they"; the Promise applies to Abraham and Jesus Christ. We find out in Galatians that those who are in Christ are also included, but that does not make Christ more than one. I am thinking that the original Hebrew must use a different word that goes something like: "I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your seed after you throughout HIS generations for an everlasting covenant..." His generations are all of those who have been born into the family of God since His resurrection, and those who had lived by faith prior to his coming. Still searching... |
